ABOUT THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR
My name is Peg Dineen and I am employed as a full time Counselor at Dyer Elementary School. I have worked as a School Counselor for 15 years and have been in the field of education for 25 years. In addition to my certification in School Counseling, I also hold a license as a Clinical Professional Counselor.
My theoretical background utilizes the techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy as well as play therapy. Guidance services are available to all students with an emphasis on being sequential and developmental. The primary goal of the elementary program is to help students become more self-aware, self-confident and sensitive to others.

Works with individuals and groups
Helps to identify needs of students

Information for Parents:
Elementary School Counselors help all children with the process of reaching their potential. The Guidance program at Dyer Elementary School is developmental and sequential and is aimed at helping all students. The Elementary Counselor meets with children in their classroom, in small groups, or individually with the emphasis on assisting each child to develop skills necessary to make sound choices by becoming self-directed and life long learners.
