![]() Snowy Cardinal Saber-Tongue Catfish The snowy cardinal saber-tongue catfish is a bird and fish combination (a “fird”). It is the size of a small cat. It has a cat-like face, a fish-like body, one leg that is newt-like, a fin for another leg, one snowy owl wing, and a wing that looks like a cardinal’s. You can find it along the Alaskan beaches and it is common to see hiding in tide pools, drinking the water. It eats pike and plankton and it has no natural predators. Its call sounds like waves hitting up against the rocks. It has a strange habit which is to walk on one leg. And that’s what I call a strange animal! |
